Ka Pianna Teikhang Vankhua



Teikhang, a very beautiful hilly village, surrounded by various flora and fauna and inhabited by more than 300 houses has a very pleasant climate throughout the year. A place where men and women live together happily and joyfully. A place where loves, ideas and expressions are shared together. Foods, vegetables and many more are sufficiently available for the people. And Also, it is one of the place where the best people are born and the most favorable region to live in Sialkal Tlangdung

Geography and Climate
Teikhang lies on the North-Eastern part of Champhai district in Mizoram State between 23.79707N latitude and 92.70062E longitude. The name is a combination of two words Tei and Khang (meaning Grow), derived from a tree named as Teising which grow so fast and unique. Our grandfather was living in a placed called Old Teikhang near the present Lawibual area, a small tree named Teising was growing there, that tree can grow as big as a dog body size in one year, this amazed our forefather and thus they derived the name from this. The village is bounded on the north by Hiangmun and Mimbung, on the east by the Chin State(Myanmmar), on the south by Kawlbem and on the west by Ngopa(Sub-Division Head Quater)

Teikhang has a moderate climate. The temperatute in the summer rises upto 30 degree Celsius and fall up to 1 degree Celsius in the winter season with the visibility of small snow near the lakes and ponds. It can be estimated as one of the coolest village among Mizoram during the winter season.

People and Religious:
The people of Teikhang are mainly the descendant of Zo. They used Paite Language as the mode of communication and small group of family use Lusei Language. The population of Teikhang is expected to be more than 2000(approx) in 2011 census.

All the people are the followers of Jesus Christ and called themselves as a Christian. There are mostly protestant churches. There are seven churches where the villagers do their worship services namely Evangelical Baptist Convention Church(EBCC), Presbytarian Church of India (PCI), Salvation Army, Assembly of God(AG) and Roman Catholic(RC), UPC(Only one family) and also Zomi Baptist Church (ZBC). The worship services are held on Saturday night and Sunday or according to their convenience. 

Occupation:
The people mostly practice the traditional method of shifting cultivation, which is popularly referred to as jhumming cultivation and small group of family depend on the plain field cultivation which depend on the monsoon. The main crop of the people is rice through which most of them earn their revenue. Some of them are also depend on cultivating cash crops like gingers, onions, potatoes, beans, etc. There are few others people who earn their livelihood by shopkeepers, private teachers, government teachers and daily wages workers too.

Educational institution:
The government provide upto 10 standard of education in this village and Students who want to undergo further study approach a big cities or the state capital Aizawl. The institution in the village are state run as well as private run. There are Three school run by the government and two school run by the church organizations. The private runs provide up to seven/eight standard only with a small amount of tuition fee. The state aided school are Lower Primary, Middle School and Teikhang High School where the student get education free of cost or little amount of admission fee. The private aided school are Emmanuel Academy established in the year 1993 and Presbytarian School established in the year 2001. Both of them are English Medium.
IMPORTANT SITES:
  1. Camp Mual:An elevated region where most men and women spend their leisure time together with a fresh air blowing non stop. This place is also one of the most popular place for the children’ getting together at day and night for playing and enjoying.
  2. Suangpi Minthang: The name is a derived from two words Suangpi(Huge stone)  and Minthang(Famous). The famous huge stone is located in Khamnuai about 2km from the village. It’s attract visitors and most of them do not want to miss visiting this site once they come in this village. It is one of the most beautiful site in Teikhang. 
  3. Tuisa: This river serve as the international boundary line between India and Myammar. This river is one of the source of livelihood for the people of Teikhang as it provide Fishes, Crabs and also a source of irrigation for the cultivators near the river.
  4. Munpi Kham: This hill reassemble a plateau which provide shelter for the villagers during the MNF revolution. This beautiful hill is visible from the village and decorate the land of Teikhang.
  5. Surtlang: It is situated about 15km from the village on the western side of the land. It is clearly visible from the sub division headquarter. It is widely known in Mizoram as it has a high altitude about 1967m above the sea level
  6. Sialkal Mini Sport Complex: The mini Sport complex comprises of Volleyball ground, basketball ground and football ground. It was funded by the NEC in 2006 at the amount of 39 lakh Indian rupees.

Infrastructure:
The government provide some infrastructure which play a very vital role in day to day life of the people. They are as given below:
  1. Transport: The Mizoram State Transport’ Bus services from Aizawl to Mimbung via Teikhang and Hiangmun lighten the burden of the people. They services regularly every week along with a few private motor.
  2. Aganwadi and Health Care Centre: They provide a crucial role for the children who are still small to go to school. They supply nutritious food every interval of time and provide medicines whenever necessary.
  3. Communication: BSNL build tower near Singgai which will be operable soon. Private operators like Aircel is function for communication but there are only some site where network are within coverage area.
  4. Postal services: Post office is located in the village and willing citizen can send any letter throughout India with minimum charges apply.The Postal Address is given as below Teikhang, PIN Code: 796290, District : Champhai, Tehsil/ Taluka : Ngopa, State : Mizoram
  5. Electricity: The village is receiving a very regular power supply with one transformer through day and night. People can get many benefits through this powers like carpenters, women who cook their food and children who are busy with their computers and TV.
